C. Holiday 2010: Which Plus Size Stylista Are You? Filed under: Fleurtle Favorites • Plus Size Fashion • Style Tips & Tricks

I was actually lucky enough to get a preview of the Monif C. plus sizes Holiday 2010 collection at her fifth anniversary fête a couple of weeks ago. However, there were some color options that she kept a secret until the official unveiling of the entire collection on Monday! What a pleasant surprise! ;-) I have organized my favorite picks from the collection and styled them based on specific plus size stylistas: La "Curvy" Femme Nikita, the Park Avenue Sophisticate and the Vegas "Go-Go" Girl. Which one are you?

First up, the Monif C. "Olivia" embossed velvet dress. And yes, I have dubbed this dress as the "La Curvy Femme Nikita" because the entire outfit reminds me of something a secret Russian spy would wear as she tantallized and tempted her unknowing enemies with her dangerous curves just to get them to spill all of their secrets! LOL! If James Bond ever needed a curvy counterpart "La Curvy Femme Nikita" should definitely be hired. I mean, would any of you ladies have a problem starring opposite Daniel Craig????? I digress.
Anywho, the "Olivia" dress is a Fall trend 2fer in that it is velvet and it has a snake print so you kill 2 Fall trends with 1 knock-out dress! Since the "Olivia" dress already makes a very sensual statement (trust me, your curves will speak for themselves), you should look for accessories that are simple but have unexpected detail. For example, I loooooooove the simplicity of the Brian Atwood "Donna" black patent pump but it is definitely an "exit" shoe in that the back of the heel has a stitched suede ribbon detail, not quite as cutesy as a bow, which makes it even spicier on a very basic level! I'm in love! Also, check out the Alexander McQueen red whipsnake clutch which seems to be just a handbag but the knuckle duster allows you to leave all of your other jewelry at home because it doubles as a three-finger ring. So clever! The only other jewelry you would need is a pair of diamond studs. This is a must-have little black dress for a New Year's Party! Park Avenue Sophisticate

Next is the "Nikita" dress. Before we get into the styling of this dress, I want you to know that this is a must-have investment piece for your wardrobe because of it's versatility. You can wear it to work or out-on-the-town. Furthermore, how many times do you see a plus size LEATHER dress that isn't featured on a hoochie momma lingerie site????? Get this dress while you can, ladies!
Okay, so one of the key Fall trends is camel from head to toe. Camel is a classic color that will never go out of style, which makes this dress an even greater investment. To do the head to toe camel trend, I suggest playing with textures and tones. As you can see, I pulled every tone in the camel color family from ivory to taupe to caramel. I also combined different textures from the smooth leather of the dress to the diamond-embossed leather of the Camilla Skovgaard pumps and the python of the Chloé "Marcie" bag to the wool of the Talbot's turtleneck and the La Dan's Closet cape. Important style note: The cape has somewhat of a bell shape so it is best to wear a fitted bottom for a more slimming effect, hence, the "Olivia" dress with its penciled skirt. Also, for an office look, layer a turtleneck under the dress. Oh, and I loooove the Fennimas cuffs that Fluvia is wearing with this dress! I would keep those but I would wear gold stud earrings for a work look. Now, are you ready to light that board room on fire with the flames under your Camilla Skovgaard pumps and the curves under your Monif C. caramel leather dress? I know you are! ;-)

Vegas "Go-Go" Girl

I think we all have a Vegas blingy side to our style. Picture this. You just signed that million dollar contract for your company and now you're headed straight to the Bellagio in Vegas to meet up with your friends for a girls getaway weekend. No time to change when you land? No worries! Just leave on the Monif C. caramel leather dress, but jump into these crystal slouchy boots by Lesilla. These boots were made for walking, ladies! They add some color and sparkle to the dress. And, yes, they are quite expensive but I can find you some more cost-effective options....call me!
Can you tell that I am obsessed with Alexander McQueen and all of his fab accessories? Isn't this Brittania clutch simply stunning???? And please don't get me started on the Fennimas "Vegas Glam" hoops! Rachel Fennimore of Fennimas is a curvy design diva of all head-turning baubles, yet she is so humble with a beautiful spirit! Looove her!
So the question remains. Which plus size stylista are you? ;-)
