Stock Up On Stylish Socks For Fall

With all the styling options the fall/winter season has to offer, we love adding one to our list that's not only super easy, but doesn't pose a threat to our budget either. Socks for fall are just such a nifty trick, offering a myriad of ways to literally step up your dressing game, whether in the form of knee-highs, detailed ankle socks, or thigh-highs (in lieu of full-on tights before the temps drop). Better still, fall's latest batch of socks gives us even more ways to bring our platform sandals and high-heeled oxfords (the ones you've been dying to wear!) into autumn days with ease. We've come up with four cute styles that will give your favorite mini or tailored shorts a whole new look.

1. Thigh-High Socks—A favorite on the fall/winter runway, thigh-highs are best worn with tailored shorts or a mini-skirt with heeled booties; you can also go layered over tights or jeans peeking out of your tallest boots.

2. Knee-High Socks—We love the new installment of knee-highs pulled all the way up with the season's heeled desert boots or scrunched down with booties or a T-strap heel. To get the full effect, a knee-length skirt or dress is key.

3. Ankle & Trouser Socks—There's no better way to bring your favorite platform sandals into fall and winter than with a pair of ankle socks; try a bright color under trousers or jeans for a pop of unexpected color.

4. Chunky Socks—A cross between hiking and camp socks, fall's more textured chunky socks look great bunched up around the ankle with skinnier pants or with a pleated mini-skirt and an ankle boot with a wider shaft (think a micro cowboy bootie).
